Membership Categories

The Bahamas Psychological Association

  • Fellows

    Fellows shall be members of the Association who are interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession and who have met the standards described below. The standards for fellow status shall be:


    A. Master’s or doctoral degree from a psychology program, conferred by a graduate school of recognized standing


    B. Active engagement at the time of nomination in the advancement of psychology in any of its aspects


    C. Evidence of outstanding contribution or performance in the field of psychology.

  • Members

    Members of the Association shall be persons who are interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession and met the standards described below. The minimum standard for associate status shall be:


    A. A master’s degree in psychology from a tertiary institution of recognized standing.


    B. Engaged in professional work and/or studies primarily psychological in nature.


    C. Reside in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

  • Associates

    Associates shall be persons who are interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession and who have met the standards described below. The minimum standard for associate status shall be:


    A. A Bachelor’s degree in psychology from a tertiary institution of recognized standing.


    B. Engaged in professional work and/or studies that are primarily psychology nature


    It is important to note that Affiliates are not full members of the Association. Presently, there are three main types of affiliates; professional, student, and foreign.


    A. Professional Affiliates shall be persons practicing in a psychology related field with a minimum of a Bachelors degree from a tertiary institution of recognized standing.


    B. Student Affiliates should be engaged in undergraduate studies in psychology.


    C. Foreign Affiliates shall be psychologists who reside in countries other than the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
